How To Find Us...

The Owl Centre, Muncaster Castle is on the A595 one mile east of the village of Ravenglass, one hour’s drive from Junction 36 of the M6 motorway

From the North
From Carlisle follow the A595 to Cockermouth, and continue on past Whitehaven, this road bypasses Ravenglass and goes straight through to Muncaster
The journey should take about an hour and a half

From the South
• Depart M6 at Junction 36 onto A590 heading West for 20 miles
• Turn RIGHT (West) at Greenodd onto A5092 for 6 miles
• Bear RIGHT (North-West) onto A595 for 22.5 miles
• The car park for the Owl Trust can be found on the right one mile before the turning for Ravenglass
• Arrive at the Owl Trust and Muncaster Castle
The journey will take approximately an hour and a quarter
Use the postcode CA18 1RD in your Sat Nav and that will guide you directly to our main Car Park

From the East
Take in one of 'Britain's Seven Wonders' as voted by you in an RAC online poll by taking in the beautiful Hard Knott Pass from Ambleside - if you're brave enough!

By Train
Ravenglass Railway Station is situated just one mile from Muncaster

Walking from Ravenglass to Muncaster:
There are two routes from the train station either via the main road or via the Eskdale Cycle Trail through the Decoy Wood, this will take you passed the Roman Bath House and through delightful scenery, but will take you between 30 and 40 minutes to walk

There is FREE coach and car parking opposite the main gate, with disabled parking

Opening Times
The Gardens, Owl Centre and MeadowVole Maze are open daily open daily 11am to 4pm

Wheelchairs To Loan
We have wheelchairs on site which you are more than welcome to borrow to make your visit comfortable. It is advisable to book these in advance as numbers are limited. We also have one electric scooter

Wheelchair Access
The main areas of the Gardens and Owl Centre and MeadowVole Maze allow wheelchair access. The ground floor of the Castle (where the majority of the audio tour takes place) is also accessible by wheelchair

Toilets
Accessible toilets are available in the Stable Yard and the Coach Park

Dogs
Dogs are welcome in the Gardens and the Owl Centre if kept on a lead and under control
Guide dogs only, please, in the Castle, MeadowVole Maze and Café. Please respect our other visitors and “scoop the poop”

* The Castle will be closed from 25th February until 24th March 2013 but can open by appointment for a minimum fee.
The Gardens, Owl Centre and MeadowVole Maze are open daily from 11am until 4pm except Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Tickets, hot drinks, snacks and gifts will be available from the Owl Garden Tea Room which is open from 11am to 4pm daily.
Entry is via the Church entrance located 1/3 mile south of our main car park on the A595.
